Hey everyone its Paul Pyro and today I am lucky enough
to review an amazing peace of sofware by Protect Star called
Data Shredder Pro Edition 4. Now lets get righ into it by
installing the software. Now as this installs, a quick tid bit
of info is that this software is both compatible with Windows
and Mac OS so it covers a variety of PC's
Installation has finished and activation is complete, now lets
dive into this software.
First thing is first by saying how easy it is to navigate through
each of the settings on the left side panel.
The first setting is to secure erase individual files and folders.
To test this feature I will first create a small text document in
which I will secure erase with the software.
Next I just click add files and navigate to the file I created earlier.
As you can see it has been added and I can continue to the next step.
This is where this software stands above all in the vast selection of secure
erase options. It starts from fastest time and less secure options at the bottom
and gradually increases in time and security as you move up the list. By using
these secure erase standards by Data Shredder, you can ensure all your secret files
are wiped premanently.
For the test file, I chose the quickest option of 1 cycle of random values.
The next option is to erase free space which I will not be doing in this video
as it takes a longer amount of time depending on your hard disk space.
What this option does is wipe any empty space which may contain previously stored
files in which you do not wish to keep anymore. Such as financial information and
important work documents.
The third option is to erase temporary files such as error reports or micellaneous files
laying around on your computer. This includes your OS's temporary files, recycle bin files
and for windows users, the windows paging files.
The fourth option below it is dedicated to erasing internet files on a variety of browsers
including internet explorer, firefox, chrome, opera, and safari. Again, you get to choose
between a variety of wiping methods, which is why I really love this software.
The fifth option is for moving files around in a secure fashion so your files
stay safe during the process.
The last option on the bottom is for managing Hard disk drive partitions and erasing
any partitions you wish to remove.
As a bonus feature, this software has options for password protecting the program's settings
so that no one else except you can access the options for Data Shredder. Along with proxy settings
for your web browser, the data erase report format, default shredding methods, and much more.
