This is what the feeling of ‘meh’ personified looks like!
This 75-second-long ad for Super.Money, a new fintech app backed by Flipkart, uses a visual metaphor to showcase the underwhelming rewards offered by UPI apps.
The creators cleverly correlated the slang, “meh”, with the onomatopoeia for the sound a goat makes—and the result was a goat in a man’s body, called ‘Sumo’, who represents the average Indian, wary of marketing gimmicks.
Sumo, the official AI influencer for the company, goes about his everyday life—visiting the barbershop, drinking tea and shopping from street vendors—and every time he pays for something, he lets out a defeated “meh”.
Holding the viewer’s attention, with its humour and absurdity, the ad is a breath of fresh air—both, relatable and quirky at the same time.
Shikha Gupta, Consulting Creative Director at Super.money, said, “Sumo is relatable, witty, and offers a much-needed break from the glossy, unattainable personas we often see in ads. He’s tired of putting up with empty promises, just like our users, and that’s why he’s the perfect symbol for super.money’s promise of real rewards.”
Well then, what made you go “meh” today?
