2 Ten-foot Tarp Tents Compared - Araer vs Free Soldier
A look at two light camping tarps that can be used as a shelter, hammock rain fly, sunshade, and wind break. Both tarps are roughly 10-feet (3 meters) square. One is by Araer and the other by Free Soldier. Specification and notes for each tarp are listed below the product links. At the time of this video, the Araer tarp was roughly half the cost of the Free Soldier.

ARAER TARP SPECIFICATIONS
size at the time of this video: 118" square (300 cm) [Araer has since, changed the size to be roughly 10 x 15 feet.]
material: 210T Polyester with 3000mm Polyurethane coating
tie-outs: 9 tie-outs. Metal grommets in nylon loop straps for all tie-out points.
cordage: 8 sets of high-visibility paracord with tensioners already attached. Each is approximately 12'5" long (3.8 meters). The ends of each cord come lightly melted to prevent unraveling. The 8 included tensioners are already threaded onto each cord.
stakes: 4 aluminum stakes, 7" (18 cm) long, hook style
waterproof: Yes. The tarp material is waterproof and the center line seam is sealed.
kit weight: 36.7 oz (2.3 lbs) (1 kg)
carry bag size: 12" x 9.5" (30.5 x 24.4 cm)
colors: Comes in light grey only.

FREE SOLDIER TARP SPECIFICATIONS
size: 118" x 126" (300 x 320 cm)
material: 210T ripstop polyester with 2500mm Polyurethane coating
tie-outs: 19 tie-outs. Loop straps for all tie-out points. Only the 5 tie-out loops on the center line have metal grommets in them.
cordage: 4 sets of paracord; each is approximately 12'10" long (3.9 meters). Out of the box the ends of the cords are NOT melted to prevent unraveling. Tensioners are included.
stakes: 4 aluminum stakes, 7" long (18 cm), straight style, notched near top, small paracord loop at top
waterproof: Yes. The tarp material is waterproof and the center line seam is reinforced and sealed.
kit weight: 44.2 oz (2.8 lbs) (1.25 kg)
carry bag size: 13.5" x 5.5" x 3.25" (34.3 x 14 x 8.3 cm) It's a tight fit to get the tarp in and out of its bag.
colors: A few colors are available. The color of the one seen in the video is called "brown." (It looks more like an olive drab to me.)
I replaced the 4 straight stakes that come with this tarp with 8 aluminum hook-style stakes that are 7 inches long.
