A balance sheet is a snapshot of a companies financial assets and liabilities at a particular point in time. Assets can be divided into current and non-current assets. Current assets are cash and things that can be turned easily into cash within a year. Liabilities can be divided into current and non current liabilities. Current liabilities are what's due within a year. Non-current are liabilities due after a year. Keep it simple and think of it as a real business and not numbers on a page!
