Scuba diving at New York City's Beach 8 St
Beach 8 St is at the north end of Rockaway Beach, within the city limits of New York City. Once the local scuba diving Open Water Certification site, this location still has submerged metal cages that facilitate instructors and students during check-out dives.
Northern lobsters and crabs can be found there, though consumption is not recommended due to high levels of accumulated heavy metal pollution.
During the summer, warm water currents bring tropic fish into this area. (20190714)
