WD-40 cans currently use CO2 as a propellant (as far as I know), so if you're gonna use lighter refill (butane/propane mix), to repressurize them, be more careful around ignition sources. Most of the other spray cans use butane or butane/propane (I'm not sure), so you already had to be more careful with those (for example; spray paints, cleaners, other lubricating fluids, etc.). Some compounds in spray cans might not be compatible with butane/propane, so make sure they are, before you decide to try this. Add just as much as you need to get the rest of the contents of the can out; there's no need to add more than that. If you need more pressure, shake the can or hold it under warm, but NOT hot water (30°C or 86°F is enough). If the pressure does not increase, add more gas.
