Feel kinda stoopid posting a how to video on Gentoo. My thought is that if you are a Gentoo user then I am preachin' to the choir, so to speak.

Any who, the modemmanager thing was more of a nuisance than a threat to the system. Because this PC does not have a dial up card I removed that service. I suppose that removing it actually sped up the boot process by one one thousand percent. Noticeable? Yup.

I still prefer to startx as usual, but you may not.

Software used:

sudo emerge --quiet x11-misc/lightdm

sudo emerge --quiet x11-misc/lightdm-gtk-greeter

emerge --quiet x11-misc/lightdm-mini-greeter

emerge --quiet x11-misc/numlockx

After enabling numlock then engage numlock before rebooting.

Thanks for watching!

Have a Great holiday season!
