The GhostBSD Project had its beginnings in the early part of 2009, the idea of project founders Eric Turgeon and Francois Toussaint. Our original goal was to produce a secure, installable FreeBSD Gnome live CD system. A major goal is to help new users adapt to FreeBSD. Francois Toussain and Eric Turgeon had some problems including the lack of knowledge of building a BSD system and programming it.
GhostBSD 1.5 that was installable through a text-based installer to then have its first graphical installer on the 2.5 release.

In GhostBSD, software can be installed with pkg add, pkg install or software-station:
The pkg add command is used to extract pre-built binary packages from a local file or from a remote server on the network. However, most users utilize pkg install to install applications from the official GhostBSD repository.
There are over 32,000 applications in GhostBSD's Ports. These applications can be readily accessed via software-station.

Based on FreeBSD stable releases. All the things I like in FreeBSD are mirrored to GBSD.
A great (maybe the best) way to get introduced to the BSDs'.
Has had only one minor 'hiccup' since Jun. 25, 2022. Virtualbox quit working for about a week. May have been patched sooner but that's when I checked.
If a person wants to try out a BSD, then GhostBSD is in my opinion the easiest way to try one.
Dislikes:
My only gripe with GBSD applies to all the BSD families, No gnome-disk-utility, hardinfo, as well as a few other GUI type apps.
Based on FBSD stable so some packages will be older (but stable) longer than in most rolling release type systems.
This is the second OS shared on the MT7010. I have been happy running GBSD. Very few (one) hiccups so far in the journey.
