In my spare time i love to design objects that solve daily problem.... Today, i decided to create an door stop.
Can an HARD DRIVE and a DOOR have something in common ?? Well......YES!, inside the Hard Drive we can find something really usefull for today's project, Neodmium Magnet.

They are really strong and small magnets, used in the Hard Drive to keep the pieces of the writing device together, but we will find another use for them.
The idea started becase i didn't want a canonical door stop, or something that i have to remove or leave aside when i'm not using it.
We also had the advantage that there's a lot of room underneath the door, to fit some devices.
I started sketching some ideas, and one of the biggest problem was, where to fix the magnet ?
At one point, randomly checking internet about 3d printing features, i discovered that i could use the "material change" option in my PRUSA i3, to stop the print whenever i needed, place the magnets inside, and start again!
This helped me to archieve a sort of case for the 2 magnets, to fix on the door and on the floor.
I did the 3d modeling in Onshape, making sure to have a empty space inside the print, to fit the magnet. The 3d Print failed a couple of times, due to my inexperience in material changing, and brought me to a full hot end disassemble of the prusa,
due to clogging.
But after that everything went flawlessly, i managed to print everything and the results are amazing, the product works and is more or less the initial idea i had in mind.
Next time i will probably do something with 3d Printed moulds, so be sure to stick around and see you next weekend!
