In my spare time i love to design objects that

solve daily problem.... Today, i decided to create

a mould for an Hair Dryer Adapter.

The project looks complex, due to geometry and

small tolerances, but i decided to give it a try

eitherway.

I started modeling the adapter with Fusion 360

https://www.autodesk.com/products/fus...

360/students-teachers-educators (now offers a non

commercial use license)

Soon after i moved to the 3d Printing which took

around 6 h in total. To proceed with the casting i

needed to prepare the mould with some tape (to

avoid leaking of the resin), and some abrasive

paste acting as detaching agent.

After everything was in place i did the casting,

and waited for the resin to cure completely.

Last step was to open the mould, taking care of

drafts and difficult parts to open. The object came

out in good conditions (not perfect, but ok).

I saw straight away that the fitting was perfect on

both sides, and gave it to my wife to test it.

Sadly, after 2/3 days it started detaching from the

hair dryer side, due to the small interference

points, and for the simple fact that the resin was

warping due to the High temperature.

Was a good project from the design point of view,

but poorly studied from the material side, probably

a heat resistent resin was needed.

All filmed with my New Nikon D5300

Thanks for watching, stay tuned and sub for more

projects!
