Today I will go through a question regarding airplane seating.
This involves a static rule of how the passengers pick their seats, which has a random element and therefore probability comes into play.
In this video, we will solve the problem by breaking the seat choices down into tractable scenarios, which requires insight into how the seat-picking rule works. In the end, we will see that the puzzle boils down into a recursion with some specific stopping conditions. By simple observation of when the stopping condition is satisfied, we are able to reach our final answer.
