6.0 Powerstroke - Rear Differential Fluid Change & Differential Cover Upgrade. While I was working on the 6.0 powerstroke anyway, I bought an upgraded aluminum differential cover along with the fluid change. With the new differential cover I had to go buy new bolts and cut them down with a chop saw. Then I applied the motorcraft T-31 to the differential cover and gasket to ensure no leaks what so ever. I cleaned out the differential with brake clean and a hand full of oil rags. I cleaned the mating surface with my impact and a brass wheel. Then I installed the new differential cover and torqued the bolts down. Torque value doesn't need to be insane here all you doing is holding the fluid in. Then I remove the 3/8" magnetic plug and inspect and clean the plug before fluid install and plug install. Now your done, enjoy your favorite beverage.
