Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, NH | a bite-sized thru hike [2022]
In mid-August, a few friends & I thru hiked the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway - a 48-mile trail in southern NH that links the peaks of Mt. Monadnock and Mt. Sunapee. Including approach and descent trails, our total mileage was around 51 miles - which we broke up into 3 days of hiking; with 8, 27, and 16 mile days.
The Greenway is definitely appropriately named - the scenery is mostly forested with occasional outlooks of the surrounding mountains and rolling hills - the ferns lining either side of the trail were especially pretty. Water sources were unseasonably dry, but we got lucky with water caches and spigots in towns.
The trail was incredibly well-maintained (shout out to the MSGTC) with an awesome little community as well. If you live in the area, it's definitely a hike worth checking out.
