Slack is a great place to keep your team members in the loop of any new tasks that you’ve created for them on Microsoft SharePoint. But manually notifying them of every new task can be really daunting! That’s where Automate.io comes in. It’s a simple tool to connect your favorite web apps. To begin, visit this page, click on the use case box and then the Get Started button.

You will see the Add Accounts screen. Here you will connect your Slack & Microsoft SharePoint accounts to Automate.io. Authorize these apps by clicking on the ‘Connect’ button and entering your credentials. We always keep your data secure with bank-level encryption. After successfully authenticating your apps, you will land on the Configure page. Here, you will configure the specific data that you want to transfer from your Microsoft SharePoint to Slack.

Once you complete this step successfully, Automate.io will send a Slack notification to the person or channel of your choice for every new task on Microsoft SharePoint. First, let’s focus on Microsoft SharePoint which is our trigger app. It is used to define when your automation should start. This automation, also called a Bot, starts when there is a new task on SharePoint. Oh, by the way, there are more triggers that can come in handy for other use cases.

Coming to Slack, it’s the action app, which defines what action should happen in the Bot. In this case, we want to send a message via Slack for every new task on SharePoint. However, this isn’t just restricted to direct messages. You can even customize this Bot to send a channel message. And, there are more actions available here for any other tasks. Now, let’s map the fields that we want from SharePoint to Slack. Under SharePoint, select the Site, and Plan. Under Slack, select the Username and type in a message. To give a more detailed view of the tasks, you can map these additional fields as well.

We’ve now set up our bot. Go ahead and click Done. Now, let’s test it out. Now, come back to your Automate.io dashboard. Perfect! Let’s check our Slack. There you go! Your bot will now run in the background and do all the work for you. If you want to try out this automation, click on the link below to get started quickly. And remember, we’re available 24x5 on our in-app chat or email us at [email protected]. Don’t forget to subscribe to us.
