Pop-up Book Spread Assembly Vol. 7: A Season in Hell pl. 2
Again, I don’t know if this is of any interest? It’s the cutting and assembling of the 2nd spread of my recent artist’s pop-up book A SEASON IN HELL.
I arrived at this design, that I later refined aplenty, while experimenting on free-form pop-ups but for this I finally opted for a rigid pop-up. The over-arching part is heavily put forward with typography / color; I used the supporting piece to house text too - not exactly practical for reading, haha.
The 1st part of Arthur Rimbaud's poem "Mauvais sang" (Bad Blood) is typographed and animated here.

And by the way, with the exception of the generic "Hungarian Map" of the 1st spread, which is a rotated "Turkish / Exploding Map", all PE designs (movable paper sculptures, really) of A Season in Hell are original artwork, i.e. none stem in any existing stuff. There is room enough for creative freedom and innovation (= art, really); no need to copy anyone nor to do always the same thing. The same applies to all my Movable Calligrams too.

Une fois encore, je ne sais pas si ceci a le moindre intérêt ? C’est le découpage et l’assemblage du 2e tableau de mon livre animé d’artiste récent, UNE SAISON EN ENFER.
J'ai abouti à ce design, grandement modifié par la suite, en expérimentant les pop-ups à forme libre, mais pour ceci j'ai finalement opté pour un pop-up à forme rigide. La partie aérienne est largement mise en avant par la typographie / couleur ; j'ai aussi placé du texte sur la pièce de support - pas très pratique pour la lecture, haha.
La première partie du poème "Mauvais sang" de Rimbaud qui est ici typo-graphié et animé.

Et en passant, à l'exception de la "Carte hongroise" générique de la 1ere double page, qui est une "carte turque / explosive" pivotée, tous les systèmes (des sculptures animées de papier, en fait) d'Une Saison en Enfer sont des œuvres originales, c'est-à-dire qu'aucun ne se base sur un travail existant. Il y a suffisamment de champ libre pour la liberté de création et l'innovation (= l'art, en fait) ; nul besoin ni de copier ni de toujours faire la même chose. Ainsi de tous mes Calligrammes animés, aussi.
