When Russia invaded Ukraine, our screens were filled with bombs and destruction. What about the millions of fleeing mothers and children? Seven days after the war began, I headed to the Ukraine-Polish border to capture their story.
When I arrived in Poland, 700,000 Ukrainians had fled to their supportive neighbor. 12 days later, when I began editing this video, the number of refugees in Poland had swelled to 1.7 million. It’s the biggest refugee crisis since World War II. AND, a year later, over 8 million have been displaced from their homeland.
BUT, numbers don’t define a humanitarian crisis…humans do. That’s why I made the trek. This video is an excerpt from the short film, "Flight or Fight: Crisis in Ukraine". It was shot in the Budomierz Refugee Aid Camp, on the Ukraine-Polish border.
