In the last video we talked about the blocking techniques and camera angles in a scene with a lot of actors and extras with an example from the movie 'Valkyrie' directed by Brian Singer with cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC.
In this video I would like to talk about lighting and contrast ratios in a couple of scenes from this beautifully shot movie. I really liked shots lit by a harder source with a lot of contrast which best suits the visual style of a periodic war film.
The relationship between your key light and your fill light can make a significant difference in the composition of your shot.
We’ll be studying contrast ratios with false colors to determine what ratios we need if we want to shoot images similar to these stills.
