Aluminum Foil: Which Side to Use?
#shorts It's a cultural myth that it matters which side you use aluminum foil. Whether you use the shiny side up or down. The truth is, it doesn't make a difference.
The reason the two sides look different is due to the manufacturing process, which involves milling the foil into layers and, by applying heat and tension, stretching it to the thickness of a paper. Two layers are processed in contact with each other at the same time because, if we didn't, the foil would break during the milling process. When the foil is in contact with another layer, that side becomes "dull." The "shiny" side is the milled side that makes contact with the rollers.
