Install Märklin START UP Light Signals 74391/74380/74371 using M84 60842/60841 (Beginner Episode 5g)

In this video we look at how to install the Märklin START UP Light Signals using the M84. The Märklin START UP light signals include the Home Block Signal (Märklin 74391), the Distant Signal (Märklin 74380) and the Yard Signal (Märklin 74371). These Märklin START UP signals are dumb signals - essentially only a signal with LEDs and a wire. In order to use them digitally, they are connected to the M84. You can use the black edition M84 (Märklin 60842) or the white edition M84 (Märklin 60841).

As an example of how to install the START UP signals, in this video Home Block Signal (Märklin 74391) with a matching Distant Signal (Märklin 74380) to the black edition M84 (Märklin 60842). The Yard signal (Märklin 74371) is connected in the M84 in the same way as the Home Block Signal and the white edition M84 (Märklin 60841) can also be installed as show in this video.

In the following video we will look at how to use the stop section / stop track with this set up.

• Tip: Use the M84 dip switches to set the address
• Tip: Look in the manual to see how to set the dip switch for desired address
• Tip: Turn on the "START UP Signal" power on the M84 switch

• Tip: The START UP signal plug must have the wires "down" when plugged into the M84
• Tip: If the signal shows green when it should show red - flip the plug around
• Tip: The first M84 address is port 1 on the M84, 2nd adr is port 2 and so on.
• Tip: Red wire to "B" the tab closest to the edge
• Tip: Brown wire to "0" the tab furthest from the edge
• Tip: Hit the MS2 "Turnout" to get to the accessories
• Tip: Use SHIFT+Knob to change address faster
• Tip: Use "Edit-Add Article" on the CS3 to manually add the M84 and specify the address
• Tip: You can use "Edit-Discover mfx items" to add the black M84 to the CS3
