This video shows how to set a signal connected to the m84 to red when the train passes. This works with any signal that can be connected to the m84 and works with both the black (Märklin 60842) and the white (Märklin 60841) editions of the m84. This video shows how to use the black edition, but the white edition of the m84 can be installed and used in exactly the same way. The Mobile Station 2 (MS2) cannot be programmed so this is a great trick to make automatic changes on your layout using electrical automation.

This video has a short summary of how to install and use the m84, please see the information/background videos below for more detailed how to. You can use any dumb signal such as the Märklin START UP signals or the Viessmann signals - videos on how to connect these can be found in the information/background videos as well.

ALWAYS do the installation with POWER OFF, read the manual and safety instructions. Remember to connect the wires correctly to each section.
