PRECAUTIONS IN PQC PAVING
This module describes the critical care one should take during the paving of PQC at project sites. The different sub activities such as Mixing of concrete, Transportation of concrete, paving of concrete, finishing and curing of concrete at site, initial joint cutting and sealant application on joints cut in PQC pavement needs to be monitored with care. The concrete paved should be taken proper care to ensure the durability of the pavement. Concrete is very delicate in terms of gaining strength to achieve maturity. Common mistakes not cared properly during paving operations will lead to cascading effect in the performance of the pavement. Unlike flexible pavement the concrete pavements are known to be rigid but are very weak when not taken properly care during its maturity period. The most critical parameters are placement temperature and workability of the mix before finishing and once finished the curing take the lead role in developing the strength of concrete.
