This is a video of Lua Project with guest artists Zenen Zeferino Huervo and Sophia Enriquez, playing an original song, Vengo de Muy Lejos, written by Estela's mother Guadalupe Diaz Knott in 1989. This is from a performance presentation of Lua's Virginia Humanities supported project, Mexilachian Son: New Songs from an Emerging Virginia Culture. This performance is from the Warehouse Arts Center in Luray, Va on May 11, 2019, and features Estela Knott (vocals, jarana), Zenen Zeferino (vocals, jarana), David Berzonsky (bass), Christen Hubbard (mandolin) and Sophia Enriquez (vocals and trumpet). This song was written by Estela's mother in 1989, and was re-discovered by Estela during the course of this project. This is the first time it has ever been performed. It is a mariachi style song, and speaks of Lupe's memories of childhood and missing the soul of her happiness in Mexico.
