Nineteen Kenyans have been confirmed dead in the ongoing Russia-Ukraineconflict, while 42 others are reported missing and their whereabouts remainunknown. The development was disclosed during a session of the Senate LabourCommittee where concerns over Kenyans involved in foreign conflicts wereraised.Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi told senators that a total of291 Kenyans are currently linked in various capacities to the war. He furtherrevealed that two individuals are being held in detention, while 53 others havealready been repatriated back to Kenya through coordinated governmentefforts.Mudavadi warned Kenyans against joining foreign conflicts, noting that suchengagements expose citizens to serious risks including death, detention, anddisappearance. Lawmakers have since urged the government to intensify publicawareness campaigns to discourage recruitment of Kenyans into overseasarmed conflicts.
