What if Roman emperors (and Caesar) were alive today and they decided to become social media influencers? Which emperor would be the most successful on which platform. We have chosen our picks based on the personality and lifestyles of Roman emperors.
So, step with us into this alternate reality, in which Roman emperors are social media stars. Here's some sneak peak:
YouTube - Trajan
During his reign, Roman Empire had the biggest military expansion. So he traveled a lot during his conquests. He also was famous for his social welfare politics and extensive public building projects. He was the role model of his time. So we think that he would have had a successful YouTube career, with his travel and lifestyle vlogs, documenting his military campaigns and philanthropy projects.
Twitter - Caesar
We know he was not an emperor, but a dictator, but he would have probably been the biggest Roman social media sensation! A true phenomenon, dominating on multiple platforms. His YouTube travel and lifestyle blog would have had some of the most interesting videos, as his life was pretty amazing, filled with unreal situations - like he lived just for the plot. See in our previous videos: • CAESAR'S LOVE LIFE - MARRIAGES, AFFAIRS, S... and • JULIUS CAESAR: Scandal, Abduction and Pirates
But he would have jus been savage on Twitter. He was a skilled rhetorician, praised for his talent, vigour, style and possibility to make catchy phrases. He also used oratory to gain popularity with the masses. He jus had to adjust to the format.
Instagram - Hadrian
He was an art and architecture lover. He also travelled a lot - not for conquer new territories, but to immerse himself into different cultures. He would have had perfectly curated Instagram profile - immaculate aesthetic - him posing in front of beautiful buildings, fountains, landscapes and documenting his hedonistic life in his Villa in Tivoli. Just spot on!
TikTok - Nero
Just as Hadrian, Nero was an art lover and he thought that he was good at singing and performing. Sadly for him - he was't. So he would have been a TikTok influencer, doing TikTok viral dances and making covers to popular songs. We are not saying it would have been good, but certainly entertaining. You know when you are hate-watching something. Yes, just like that!
Reddit - Caligula
Caligula would have been and internet troll. He pulled out one of the biggest pranks in Roman history - his horse Incitatus. He wanted to appoint his horse a consul, but he appointed him a priest. He also made the Roman politicians attend diner parties hosted by his horse. His horse had a special status- he lived in marble stables, had servants, purple blankets (and purple was the colour only the highest Roman official could wear) and he ate oats with gold flakes. He probably wasn't crazy, but he wanted tho show the senate that even his horse could do their job. So jus imagine those unhinged, messy, crazy Reddit posts coming from this type of person.
Facebook - Constantine the Great
He would have spread Christianity over Facebook. His first post would have been about the revelation he had before the Battle at the Milvian bridge - when a cross of light appeared in the sky to him and his troops. The same night Jesus appeared to him in his dream, approving this message. He would have also bragged about his mother finding a piece of the Holly cross in the Holly Land.
