I started practicing this prelude almost a year ago, and kept postponing the recording. I was always either busy with our own composing or just too tired to try and get all the multiple voices in such a complex piece to resonate accordingly on my very stubborn grand piano. And whenever I came back to this music, I couldn’t help it but to feel the waves, the ocean. Often filling me with tears and grief over what we have lost since the pandemic started... Yet, step by step, I made it to memorizing and flowing the hands, dancing over one another. It could still take a couple more years to perfect it.. Or a lifetime. Instead, I just dare to share how far I am into my Rachmaninoff journey today.
I hope this music takes you to my distant shore and makes life flow in a harmony.
