Why transformers are rated in kVA?
A transformer is a static piece of equipment which transfers electrical energy from one circuit to other without changing the frequency.
Transformers work with alternating current only.
Depending on the transformation ratio, it can be classified as
step up transformer and
step down transformer.
The main parts of the transformer are
1. core
2. windings.
Based on the manner in windings are wound on the core
1. core type transformer
2. Shell type transformer
The losses in transformer are
1. Iron loss= hysteresis loss+ eddy current loss
2. copper loss
This video can be used as a study material for all first year B.E/B.Tech engineering students of all universities.
