Largest natural water factory in the world! 💦
The Sumapaz Páramo National Park is just a few hours south of Bogotá. It is over 266.000 hectares and is known to be the largest Páramo ecosystem in the world.
These ecosystems are found only at high altitudes of the Andean-region and this specific one is known to be one of the largest natural water producing factories in the world. It is the main water source for the most densely populated area of Colombia!
All those frailejones are responsible for the important water capture from the atmosphere providing millions of people with water.
And yes my math sucks, that frailejone is definitely bigger than 2,5 meters haha.
