Crocodile encounter while fishing in Mexico!
Crocodiles are no strangers in the La Encrucijada Biosphere Reserve.
During my visit to El Castaño a small village located in this incredible mangrove eco system in Chiapas Mexico, I saw many swimming through the river during my days chilling in the hammock on the deck of Costa Verde, an eco hostel run by Pablo and his family.
One morning he invited me to join him and his wife to go do some fishing. To my surprise Pablo wasn’t too bothered by the massive crocodile swimming out to sea not too far from where he was casting his net.
La Encrucijada is home to both the American Crocodile as well as the Spectacled Caiman.
Where Pablo seemed pretty chill, I can’t say the same for myself. Walking out over the beach with little light I was constantly aware of my surroundings, hoping not to accidentally bump into one of these big scaly fellas.
