This Southeast Texas swamp buck didn’t come easy.
What started as a frustrating deer season slowly turned into weeks of patience, missed opportunities, and long sits in the stand waiting on the right moment.
From youth weekend through opening rifle season, we dealt with warm weather, antler restrictions, and deer that just wouldn’t move in daylight. Trail camera pictures showed this swamp buck living deep in the marsh, but getting him to finally slip up felt almost impossible.
In this video, I break down the hunt as it unfolded over several weeks in November — sharing the strategy, the deer we passed, the close calls, and what it really takes to hunt Southeast Texas swamp and marsh country. From after-work and after-school hunts to finally getting an opportunity on a true wallhanger swamp buck, everything eventually came together on a hunt we’ll never forget.
