Lets Build Twitter From the Ground Up: Episode 284 || Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and React
Building large scale application is more difficult than many people understand or expect. Join me in this long running series where I set out to duplicate one of the most popular social media platforms ever creating using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL data, React JS web application framework and more.
In this episode, we enhance the conversation media experience by updating the MessageConversationImage component so it can be reused inside the conversation info pane’s media section with configurable dimensions and custom click behavior. We refine its rendering logic and styles to properly scale and crop images for grid display, then implement a media renderer that surfaces recent images from the conversation. From there, we build a full-screen image viewer modal, complete with overlay styling and close behavior, and extend the modal state to support displaying selected media. Finally, we wire everything together by handling media clicks to open images in full screen, completing a polished, end-to-end media viewing flow within conversations.
