The Red Bull Cost Cap saga was a multi-faceted incident and while part of it has been put to rest by the FIA issuing a monetary and testing penalty for Red Bull, one aspect that remains unresolved is how some of the teams knew the exacts details of the breach before the FIA had released any official statements. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has now revealed where this leak came from while speaking to Sky Germany

Toto started off by revealing the source of the leak
“The leak did not come from the FIA, but from ten finance directors who sit together all year to find out who did what”
He, however, feels that this is just a way to divert attention
“An offence has been committed. It really doesn’t matter how it came about. A foul is a foul”
"It is also a total sideshow. It is an attempt by Red Bull to divert attention”
He signed off by reiterating his theory
“Who chatted about it? I think it was the finance directors”

AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda is “very disappointed that it ended with such a silly mistake”
“Daniel [Ricciardo] was on a different strategy and would’ve easily made it past later on”
“For such an experienced driver to try to overtake in an area that it’s just not possible to is so annoying”
McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo countered that “it wasn’t blatant. I feel like I held a pretty tight line. It was maybe a little bit me”

Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel “was a bit unlucky to get tangled up with Yuki [Tsunoda]”
“His car was damaged, and he came back onto the track right in front of me”
“I lost too much time and was an easy target for the others”
Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas pointed out that he “got one point out of this race, and this is a positive, but [he] expected more”
Teammate Zhou Guanyu is “happy to see Valtteri get a point for the team”
“I hope some of my battles helped with this”
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner explained that their “car just didn’t have the speed”
“Therefore we ended up where we ended up”
