A very faded Eastmancolor 16mm cine film in the possession of the State Archive prov.vic.gov.au -- part of a collection of mixed visual media from the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria. Its existence within the SEC's archives reinforces the public knowledge of the time that nuclear fission for electricity production was an option being considered, or even being subjected to feasibility studies within the public utility.

Perhaps even in the 1980s some in the SEC's management knew that CO2 emissions were a serious threat to planetary health. THEY SURE AS HELL WERE NOT RUNNING OUT OF THEIR CHEAP LIGNITE RESOURCE

PROV reference is VPRS/5061/P1/650 "SECH00747 Atomic Energy in Canada"

In 2016 various politicians are again talking up the possibility of Australia using nuclear fission to raise steam to spin electric power generators. Intractable RADIOACTIVE radionuclide waste means that nuclear fission can never be a clean or safe way to solve the #ClimateEmergency

The amateurish colour enhancement/restoration makes no attempt at overall colour balance, rather tries to restore approximately natural skin colour on people's faces....very challenging for this extremely faded colour film.

Copyright National Film Board of Canada nfb.ca yet this small 480x360 colour-enhanced version -- transferred via interlaced PAL 576i DVD and re-transferred to mp4 using avidemux video processing software -- is asserted to be "fair use" and in the public interest to inform the nuclear debate once more in Australia. It may be available to purchase at nfb.ca for about $20 (fomats available are not known. possibly DVD)
