Delivering Hope: A Documentary
This short film tells the story of the San Diego Community Birth Center as a place of love, hope and an alternative to the standard US practice of giving birth in a hospital setting. Nikki Helms is the founder and chief midwife whose dream began more than a decade ago to open a birth center that serves everyone: LGBTQIA+ family builders, marginalized BIPOC, immigrants and asylum seekers, educating along the way.
Nikki and her entire staff actively embrace the challenges of health inequity for her community with education, experience, genuine love and culturally competent care to families in San Diego.
