Chilling in Malaysia's cool Cameron Highlands

I rolled into the hill town of Tenah Rata after a long bus trip from tropical Penang and the cool breeze told me right away why this place is so popular—even if it weren’t tucked into a countryside of incredible beauty.

This is the Cameron Highlands, where tea plantations and ancient cloud forests offer welcome relief year-round from the heat and humidity of the Malaysian tropics.

The town itself, while pleasant, isn’t intended to be charming. It’s all about what’s around it, including tea plantations (among which the Boh plantation is the nation's largest), cloud forests and a choice of trails from which one can immediately hike from the town through lush forests past rushing streams and waterfalls.

This is my last stop in Malaysia before heading back to Kuala Lumpur to fly to the northern tip of Sumatra at Banda Aceh to begin a new series of videos from Indonesia.
