Transgender people are not delusional monsters
Non-Patreon video, this is just something I needed to say. Yes, I could go into more detail, but the key idea I want to express is that these conservatives think "transgenderism" is a learned behavior (a social contagion), and that it's harmful. The claim about socialization is especially important because I don't see my fellow liberals addressing this claim, and some of them even agree with it.

As I said in this video, I think it is useful to distinguish between sex and gender, wherein sex is a biological classification, and gender is a psychological classification.
Sex is fairly straightforward, as it applies to every organism in nature which reproduces… well, sexually, with males and females. It is a biological classification, which humans are not above. The father of modern taxonomy, Carl Linnaeus, could not escape the fact that humans are primates, and I don't think we can escape the fact that humans are an animal species which reproduces sexually, hence, biological sex.
Gender, I would say, is a psychological classification. It classifies those thoughts and behaviors which, on average, tend to be different between males and females. Gender is not a strict binary, but it is “polar” in the sense that certain thoughts and behaviors tend to cluster around males or females (which is something we also observe in other animals, and no one bats an eye). In this sense, a “man” is someone whose psychological profile largely overlaps with the adult male average, and a “woman” is someone whose psychological profile largely overlaps with the adult female average. So what does this mean for transgender people? Well, it simply means that a trans person is someone whose thoughts and behaviors are more typical of someone of the opposite sex, for example a male who has very female-typical thoughts and behaviors.
To close out this explanation and fully nail my flag to the mast, I would say that trans women are women (gender), but they are not female (sex), and vice versa for trans men. I would also say that “gender” is partially socially constructed (learned), but that it is predominantly innate. Matt Walsh may be a fascist reactionary imbecile, but I have to admit that the question, “what is a woman?” should not be so difficult for liberals to answer as they participate in a “women’s march”.
It is also worth noting that, when you look at the numbers of people who de-transition because they simply made a mistake, you realize that these cases are lot like shark attacks: you only hear about them so much because they’re sensational, not because they actually happen a lot. Recent data from an analysis of 27 different studies indicates that only 1% of trans people who underwent some kind of related surgery had regrets, and fewer still had those regrets long-term to the point where they actually de-transitioned.
