Case Study: Numerical Analysis of Tunnels in Anisotropic Rock Mass Formations
■ Overview
This presentation tackles the 3D rock mass modelling considering a “pseudo-discontinuum” approach, by modelling the intact rock blocks with solid elements and the discontinuities with interface elements. An example of modeling the excavation of a deep tunnel in an anisotropic formation is dealt with using the software considered, comparing the results and evaluating the effectiveness of the analysis methodology.
