Scar | Drift away (ft. Mufasa & Ahadi)
NOTE: The original song says "Her" as it is about Rose. For this video's sake, pretend he sings "Him" instead as it's supposed to be about Ahadi. Thank you :P
Also at 0:32 it was supposed to be Ahadi but the effect didnt render and I didnt realize till it was too late. So pretend he has a black mane too :P
Cast:
Kovu - Taka (Cub/Young Scar)
Simba - Cub/Young Mufasa
Simba/Mufasa with a grey mane - Ahadi (Scar and Mufasa's father)
Basically, Scar is the one time of the video that is set in the present, everything else is him having flashbacks
Plot:
After killing Mufasa and sending the hyenas to kill Simba, Scar, although satisfied, is quickly overcome with a sense of guilt when good memories of his childhood with his deceased brother come to mind. However, as the memories come back in, he's also reminded of his life with his neglectful father and all the events that lead him to that point. Guilt is quickly replaced by rage as he remembers his father's actions and he sings his frustrations to Mufasa's corpse, now convinced more than ever that killing Mufasa was not only necessary, but also justified.
Additional points:
In the beginning of the flashbacks Taka is playing with Mufasa, when Ahadi comes in and tries to single out Taka so he can be with Mufasa only. Still an innocent cub, Taka thinks this is some sort of game they're playing
As the years went by and his innocence began to wear off, Taka began questioning his father's true feelings towards him. However, the leftover appreciation he has for his father leaves him wondering if perhaps he's the problem; so he's still 'happy to listen, happy to stay'
In the flashback that begins at 01:50, Ahadi is mad at Taka and tells a lionesses of the pride to take him away so he can talk to Mufasa alone yet again. Taka watches as they both turn their backs on him
02:13 is meant to be Ahadi's funeral and Taka finding out that Mufasa will be the next king, not him. He runs away without ever roaring at his coronation (Bonus; I headcannon that this is why Mufasa was so mad and concerned when Scar didn't attend Simba's presentation years later, as it wasn't the first time Scar defied the Pride's traditions)
02:35 Scar imagines himself talking to young Mufasa, as the song is everything he ever wanted to say, but never did
The ending is when the memories become overwhelming as Scar remembers random events from his life, and also remembers slowly realizing that he had been a fool the whole time; Ahadi never loved him, and never would; Mufasa was never on his side, and never would be. And the one time he dared question Ahadi, he ended up with his scar, which changed him forever, as from then on, Taka died and Scar was born
This was fun to make! If stressful because of how much masking it required xD Took me a few days but most of the masking was done today as I wanted to get it done and i'm happy I did even if I'm about to drop dead from it haha. My poor computer too, I had so many programs open at the same time and so. much. rendering. Thanks for holding on buddy :P
But I've alwyays wanted to make a video about Taka and well... It only took me nine years :P Oops. This was definitely a blast from the past, both because of the idea itself and because I hadn't done a "lion king character sings song" video in a while. Gosh that was all I used to edit when I began. Good times. I remember using potato quality TLK back in 2011
I think it looks a bit rough at times but overall I'm happy with the result! The effect on Ahadi's mane is a bit of a hit and miss but it's enough to see that it's supposed to be Ahadi so there's that :P
Shout out to Sullabib for helping me with the idea for the context of the video! She came up with the idea of having Scar singing it to Mufasa's corpse, which is just so deiciously dark and twisted and also incredibly fitting :P (Really, my original idea was so bad compared to this xP) So thank you so much!
Also because this video of hers was one of the first videos of Taka I remember watching, which definitely helped me want to make my own! (And I guess follows a similar headcannon to this one :P) Years later and it's still a favorite :3

Also shout out to torsrex96 because I actually watched the Steven Universe movie with him when I visited him which was when I got the idea of making this and now I can't have anything SU related without thinking of him :P Which, being honest, just makes the show much better :3
