When Solidworks, the digital design software giant, dropped a mini-doc spotlighting my work, it was an unexpected jokt of energy. They saw how important it was to use thier platform to amplify what I see every day:
The talent we NEED to THRIVE in 21st-century manufacturing ISN'T hiding in some IVORY TOWER. It's in the hands of the historically resilient, the youth, and the culture - the ones we once deemed "not good enough" or "unworthy" of these careers.
But here's the plot twist: they're already honing the skills we're so desperately seeking.
Think about it. Every time they swipe a touchscreen, manipulate a 3D environment in a video game, or doodle on their phone, they're laying the groundwork for a career in design engineering or CAD/CAM. All they need is someone who looks like them, speaks their language, and reps their community7D, plus access to the right tools and teachers. That's where Solidworks and I come in, providing the bridge to make it happen.
It's time we stop sleeping on this untapped potential. With Solidworks' cutting-edge software and my relentless advocacy, we can polish these raw skills into the diamonds our industry so desperately needs.
So let's not just talk about closing the skills gap. Let's actually do something about it. This work cannot be done alone. It's only possible with the assistance of companies who see the work and progress and offer thier resources, platforms, voice, opportunities to stand inbetween and fill in any gaps to ensure missions like mine continue to have impact.
