Groove Studies with the 20th Note Warm-Up 1
In this video, we play through Warm-Up 1 from the new (released December 2022) DrumMantra book, Groove Studies with the 20th Note.
This warm-up focuses on accent movement through the field of 20th note subdivisions in a measure of 4/4 time. There are 13 different accent patterns played on top of unison feet.
Each measure is played six (6) times before going to the next, and the entire thirteen exercises passage is repeated twice for a total of 156 measures of playing.
We are doing an RLRLR LRLRL sticking, but in the Groove Studies book, there is also LRLRL RLRLR, an RRLLR RLLRR, and an LLRRL LRRLL sticking.
