Meet Kobe, a student at Tullamore Further Education and Training Centre, who gives an honest and inspiring account of why he chose to study Hospitality, Level 5 Front Office and Hotel Skills with Barista.

Kobe began university but soon realised he wasn’t ready or fully prepared for that environment, which affected his confidence. He decided to take a different path and enrolled in this course because it felt like the right fit for him.

He talks about how the welcoming atmosphere and practical modules such as team building, communications, and demonstration skills which helped him grow in confidence and feel more prepared for the future. The course also offers the chance to progress to Culinary Arts at TUS Athlone or go straight into employment in the hospitality industry.

Kobe says doing a local PLC gave him the space to reassess things, build his self-esteem, become more social, and take time to work on himself. His message to others is clear: don’t be afraid or embarrassed to study a PLC locally. It might be exactly what you need.
