343 thinks DOORFRAMES are BAD for Halo…

Ever since Halo Infinite was released, there have been a whole slew of features in the game that are against player expression. I've mentioned it numerous times before and have passionately fought to allows players to play the game how THEY want, not exactly how the DEVS want.

There's been virtually nothing done by 343 to appeal to the players' wants in this regard, thus, there are still a plethora of blockers placed over ledges and niche geometry.

Instead of embracing Halo's identity, it's pushed away... further and further everyday... both by 343 and the new players they're bringing in...

😔

The first clip shown in this is a visualization of what 343 did to prevent players from getting on a doorframe on the map Live Fire. It's been like that since the Tech Preview of Halo Infinite and is still like that.

Pro player Spartan encountered an enemy landing on the right-most edge of it to start an extraction in the new game mode Extraction. (https://x.com/Spartan/status/17159599...) This made for a very tricky effort for him and his team to convert the extraction and prevent the enemies from scoring.

This became problematic because 343 restricted the doorframe so much that it couldn't be accessed in an easy way. The white blocks that you see in the video are mere visual aids. In actual gameplay, there are no indicators that a player can't stand on it. For a player to get on the small access points of it, they'd have to do it mostly by feel, complemented by specifically practicing a jump to it.

This is NOT good design.

Players shouldn't be tightly restricted to only the very edges of a doorframe, that's unreadable and an unnecessarily skillful spot.

It's anti-Halo.

When you're presented with a clear ledge, you should be allowed to access it all unless it's visibly obstructed or overpowered.
