Kitchen Remodel at SMFR Fire Station 22
As a Career Firefighter with South Metro Fire Rescue, my home away from home is the Fire Station. We just acquired an additional refrigerator for miscellaneous shared items. (We have three shifts and up to 5 personnel per day at this Station. (It's a lot like having three families living in the same house!) So we needed an additional refrigerator to accommodate all the condiments we accumulate. Problem was that we didn't have room for it in the kitchen so it was sitting in a place that wasn't convenient. With my background in construction (and permission from the people I answer to) we decided to remodel the kitchen ourselves. And, in the process, saved the citizens of our district the cost of hiring a contractor to do the work.
We were on duty at the time but as luck would have it we were able to get it done between calls within a 48 hour shift.
