Be creative at how you obtain gifts for your wife. Let me know how you do it. I’m always interested in new ideas.
At Christmas time I like a surprise. My husband will say, “What would you like for Christmas,” and I tell him. That way he knows what I’d like and he fulfills my wishes. However, it is still nice to have a surprise.
In times past he used to take my mom out for a lunch date and they would Christmas shop for me. Surprise! I loved the gifts.
One year he went Christmas shopping with a guy friend (one of his buddies from Belfast). Together the fellows picked out gifts for their wives. I got a beautiful necklace with my birthstone in the center. Love that gift.
Another year, since my mom has passed away, my husband took my grown daughter for a lunch date and they shopped for me. That daughter has a family of four to buy for and so trying to squeeze in a lunch date is more difficult. Last year she directed him to a few online sites, he made selections, she completed the purchases for him.
This year he had a new idea. He made a date, a consultation really, with a shop owner, the wool shop. He knows I like that shop, has visited with me several times to buy wool and other accessories. So he got the idea to consult with the shop owner and create a ‘surprise’ Christmas gift for me.
