Tokyo's Gubernatorial Election: Everything You Need to Know (Part 1)
Tokyo will have an election on 7 July 2024 to decide the new governor of Tokyo Prefecture. This is the largest gubernatorial election in Tokyo's history as there are a total of 56 candidates running for office.
Current governor Yuriko Koike is running for reelection (third term). This year, three other promising candidates may seriously challenge Koike's rule especially as the opposition party is gaining more momentum due to the recent Fundraising Party Money scandal. This video will review the top four candidates' platforms and analyze the current governor's past two terms. By the end of the video, viewers should have a better view of the 2024 Tokyo Gubernatorial Election and understand what is at stake.
