Mask Making: "Dead by Daylight" - The Cenobite

Welcome tot he last episode of our 2021 Countdown to Halloween! This time, we're making the Cenobite Mask from „Dead by Daylight“!
This mask features something we've kind of done before, which is a moving lower jaw. We've explored this method before in the Walker 2.0 mask, but back then the moving part was out in the open, only partly hidden by some skin flaps.
The major challenge with the Cenobite mask was hiding the moving areas so that the lower jaw could move and click the teeth together while not compromising the outer shape of the pried-open mouth.
The teeth were salvaged from last week's Venom, I made a few too many and kept them in my designated Teeth Bowl ™. A little work with the dremel and they were good to go.
If you're making your teeth „fresh“ from polymer clay, simply cut rectangle shapes and squeeze the edges over your finger to make a pretty organic shape.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with how the mask turned out :D
You know I love Halloween, but this year presented some of the greatest challenges in my life that had nothing to do with creativity. As of right now, I have no idea where my life will go and I will just have to bear with the things that happened somehow. This also meant and still means that my work time is often cut short from one minute to the next.
I planned this mask on-camera instead of on paper as usual, because I had no time or energy to really sit down and think it through. And sometimes it's really freeing for me to just start building something and see where it goes. Which is exactly what I did with the Cenobite mask, allthough unfortunately I had to set it aside for quite a few weeks in favor of meeting the other mask's deadlines.
Sure, I could have just taken some masks out of the Countdown this year, but maybe I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do the full set of five masks, deliver content on each Friday of October.
Well, what can I say, we did it =)
I'm pretty proud of myself, but also super tired now lol.
I'm not sure what kind of video – if any – will come next week. There is something that was meant to come before October that I never finished, so maybe I'll show you that. Either way, I will have to take about two weeks off posting to attend pretty serious personal matters.
So it's going to be either a new video next Friday followed by 2 weeks off, or 2 weeks off starting next Friday. Either way, I hope you can bear with me and stay tuned until I emerge from my little personal nightmare.
