Star Fox 64, known as Lylat Wars in Europe and other PAL region countries, is a rail shooter game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. The game is a reboot of Star Fox from the Super Nintendo, and retells the story of the mercenary team Star Fox, which includes Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad, and their fight through space to save the Lylat System from the evil mad scientist, Andross. Upon release, it was met with critical acclaim and quickly became of one the best-selling games for the Nintendo 64. Much like Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64 was one of the games that define the 5th generation of video game history, and it retains a cult following to this day.
