Shit, I meant haligonians. Really, very sorry about that, people of Halifax are haligonians, haligonians. Not hooligans.
Do you like ghostly looking old relics? Then come to Halifax, because it has Wainhouse Tower -- the tallest phallic symbol in the world. Shit, I've done it again, I meant tallest 'folly' in the world. Folly
Do you like vastly complicated traffic systems, which leave panicking, and scared that you'll run out of fuel? You can see where you want to go but you can't quite get in the right lane... Halifax has a wonderfully awkward road system -- it's great fun -- it's almost like the town doesn't want to leave.
Come to Halifax if you like redundant architecture. Look at Piece Hall. Interesting place, but the town has no idea what to do with it, so it's just a novelty picnic area for hippies and students. Great for public events, but the organisers of such treats cannot judge the wants of their demographic.
As well as many beautiful, and protected buildings, Halifax has managed to let a few atrocities through the planning permission net!
Halifax has shops, and lots of lovely old markets, but don't worry -- there are some shitholes for the chavs too.
Halifax was famous for producing wool and carpets, now it has hand carwash set-ups with the ubiquity of Tesco and strip clubs
