let’s be real I played this game for Rex
Old recording. You might be wondering if I’m such a Xenoblade fan, why I didn’t play the game day 1 even though I had the option to and Duke very much so did. I was bitter. Xenoblade 3 left me kinda whelmed and not really excited for what was next. I spent so long getting that video essay done with the intention of having it out before it could be outdated, then the expansion dropped 6 months ahead of schedule. I felt like all my criticisms would be thrown out the window. I wanted to get the essay to near-completion before diving into this, otherwise I feared I’d have to overhaul the whole script. Of course, that was giving Future Redeemed a little too much benefit of the doubt.
Duke said to me in a later conversation that the only reason Future Redeemed didn’t lose him was because it wasn’t as long as the base game. I think that pretty well sums it up.
Waiting to play was the right choice for me, it let me cool off and go into the game when I felt ready for it. I like Future Redeemed, I think it has the best gameplay loop of any Xenoblade yet and Rex is OP. So everything is right in the world.
Also, yeah, it’s not hard to tell but my recording settings were definitely too low for this game. Source being 1080/30, I figured it was fine, but the many particle effects and resolution drops makes things worse. I have since adjusted and now record in higher quality, but there’s no fixing this. I knew if it was uploaded in 1080p YouTube would butcher it even more, hence the 4K upscale.
Considering Duke was in like, half of this, I probably should link him. So, you can find him at @ExperimentalIdea
