Once in awhile I rise to talk about Sonic then I vanish for another month.

Was this an unnecessary remaster? Yes, although I do get it. The third movie is coming out and Shadow has been put in the spotlight, they likely wanted a safe game to add Shadow to to bring in that audience. The fact Generations runs okay on modern hardware and still looks good means it’s an easy release to add content to that coincides with the movie. I get it from a marketing perspective, just still think it’s unnecessary.

I’m curious now how much is going to be changed and what. If they port engines, there’s bound to be quirks like Colors Ultimate has (not talking bugs, just differing physics). If they keep the Havok engine, will mods be easy to port over from base Generations?
My biggest concern is disrupting the biggest modding community in Sonic, because even if base Gens isn’t delisted, it’d be kinda silly to buy a version with less content. Only way I can see it working is if they took the approach Moon Studios did with Ori: Definitive Edition is the only one available for purchase, but the original comes with it. I think that could work with Gens, but I don’t think SEGA would take that route.

Anyways, that’s all I have to add that wasn’t said in the video. Interested in hearing your thoughts!
