Welcome to Adventures with Sarah! If I say “Holland” you’ll likely think of windmills and clogs. Have you ever wondered how a traditional Dutch windmill actually works?
We just happened to pass a nearby village and saw that the windmill was open for tours. While most villages in the Netherlands have windmills, few are open regularly and even fewer still work. This windmill was set into gear and allowed visitors to see how flax oil was made in the 1850’s.
It was fascinating to see the inner workings of these huge machines, all with wooden gears. We got a very windy day and it was going almost too fast. So you’ve been warned, this is a windy and noisy video 🙂
Enjoy this fun and very Dutch piece of history.
